Here's some stuff on the characters of DBZ!

ssj4goku.jpg

Goku

The main character and the strongest character in DB and throughout DBZ, his name is based on the Chinese mythological character of the same name. Although he doesn't look like the Monkey King as described in the scripture, he looks human in almost every way. He used to have a tail, which, at the sight of a full moon, transforms him into a giant oozaru form. He is of a race called Saiya-jins who goes around conquering planets and dealing them. Goku was sent as an infant from his home planet Vegeta, which was destroyed immediately afterward, he was raised by a kindly old man named Son Gohan. Even as a child he showed remarkable abilities, such as great strength and an almost instinctive fighting skill. He was sent to Earth to conquer it, and may have done so if not for a blow to the head he received as a child. While that blow is responsible for the loss of Goku's potentially vicious and evil Saiya-jin personality, it may have done more than that. Goku is "good" in the truest sense of the word, but....well....outside of combat, he's not that bright. Oh, well.He doesn't need brains; he is the first of his kind in a thousand years to reach the legendary power-level known as Super Saiya-jin, and keeps getting stronger throughout the series. He is known for the Kamehameha attack, which he learned from Kamesennin by only watching him doing the technique when it took Kamesennin 50 years to master it. As a child Goku is much younger-looking than his actual age, he is introduced as approximately age 14 but looks 6 (some fans argue that this is because Saiya-jin age differently than humans). He has the typical wild black hair of his race, sticking out all over his head even when wet, and for the first part of the series has the trademark Saiya-jin monkey-tail, with which he can transform into the "oozaru" (a giant rampaging fire-breathing monkey with red eyes). The tail gets cut off and grows back several times during the series, until he loses it altogether as he grows up. Gokou is the first to reach SSJ in the DBZ saga but Gohan was the first to reach SSJ2 which he suprassed his fathers power level in the Cell saga, but in the Majin-Buu saga, Goku suprassed his son being able to turn SSJ3 and he was the first to turn SSJ4 in GT. Goku undergoed alot of training from Kamesennin, Kami Sama, and Kaio Sama. His favorite techniques are Kamehameha, Kaioken, and Genki Dama (AKA Spirit Bomb)

Gohan

In the entire Dragon Ball universe, there are two Gohan's. The first that is mentioned in the manga is Goku's adoptive grandfather. This Gohan is the one who first found Goku and raised him for a while. The elder of Goku's two half-human sons, Gohan is the focus of much of the later half of Dragonball (in anime form, DBZ). This Gohan has the blood of his mother, Chichi, and has the abilities of his father, Goku which makes him even more stronger than the usual Saiya-jin. He doesn't like fighting and despises those who hurts his friends, family, and nature. He has a similar kind heart that his father posseses. Gohan soon marries Mr. satan's daughter Videl, and have a child named Pan-Chan, Which soon becomes the main character in the GT series.

Goten

In the later part of the series (you can say the Majin-Buu saga)another son is born and his name is Goten. At a first glance, he looks very much like his father in his young age. He is very naive like Goku and very innocent. Though Goku first achieved the Super Saiya-jin form at an older age Goten, at a young age of 7, achieves this form while practicing fighting techniques with his brother Gohan. He's just as sweet and innocent as his father, and is inseparable from his friend/partner in crime, Chibi Trunks. Because he's so sweet (and not much smarter than his father), he often appears to be dominated by the more forceful personality of Trunks, but I suspect that he's simply too nice to argue with his friend's schemes. He is capable of anger, like his father, it's just that it takes a great deal to make him angry. Of the two, Trunks is a little stronger, probably because he's older. Goten uses his own version of the Kamehameha (perhaps by mistake, he calls his the Kamekameha), and can fuse with Trunks to form Gotenks. He's one of the few people good-hearted enough to ride the Kintoun cloud or Nimbus. (his brother and parents are the others). Goten got training from Gohan and a bit from his father. His favorite move and his only move is the Kamekameha

Vegeta

Even though he is evil at heart, Vegeta is perhaps one of the most strong-willed characters in the series. Like Son Goku, he is extremely industrious, constantly striving to be better, but different purposes drove Vegeta's spirit. Goku fought to defend the lives and others and to challenge his limitations while Vegeta fought to satiate his bloodthirsty appetite and die hard pride, which is unwilling to accept defeat. This gradually changes throughout the series. The primary driver of his will is Son Goku. Vegeta's defeat in his first encounter with Goku and his unwillingness to accept Goku being more powerful had constantly fuelled his strong will to continue to train himself. After seeing Goku turn into Super Saiya-jin and defeating Freeza, he grew even more jealous of Goku's achievements and immersed himself in intensive training. After much sweat and frustration, he finally became Super Saiya-jin. He only enjoyed a fleeting moment of pride in destroying #20, before being defeated by #18. Vegeta's first catharsis occurred during Son Gohan's battle with Cell. Because of his rash decision to attack Cell when he did not have the power to, had caused Gohan's arm to be seriously injured when Gohan saved his life. Not only was he not even close to Cell's ability, but also served as a hindrance to Gohan. That was the first time Vegeta accepted his incapabilities by making an apology to Gohan. By the time Majin Buu appeared, what used to be a cold-hearted Vegeta changed. Right before he proceeded to sacrifice his life in an attempt to destroy Buu, he told Trunks that he cared about him and how he felt bad about giving Trunks much less attention then Trunks deserved. During Son Goku's final battle with Majin Buu, Vegeta goes through a complete catharsis. He realized that Goku's pure and kind heart gave Goku the power that Vegeta never had. He finally realizes that the good ultimately prevails.More information still to come on the biography page about Vegeta.

#16.jpg

#16

The third all mechanical Cyborg that Future Trunks did not encounter in his time. In contrast to the other creations of Dr. Gero, his character is benign. He has a love for nature and wants to protect it. He is more powerful than both #17, #18 and even the fully powered 1st stage Cell. But he was eventually overpowered by 2nd stage Cell after engulfing #17. His most significant role occurs after he was repaired by Dr. Briefs and Bulma and joins the battle in the Cell Game. After he was damaged for the second time and beyond repair by Cell, he served as the catalyst who sparked Gohan into 2nd Stage SSJ, surpassing Cell's capability.

#17.jpg

#17

He is one of the Cyborgs created by Dr. Gero for the purpose of killing Goku. In Future Trunk's world, he's simply an evil individual with no regard for human life. Along with #18, he killed most of the world including Piccolo, Vejeta, Yamcha, Tien and even Gohan, leaving Future Trunks as mankind's only hope. He is quite a different character in the "present" world. Although his character is not evil, his big ego got the best of him. Believing that no one in the universe is stronger than him, he could not accept that fact that he was unable to defeat Cell and fell an easy victim to Cell, thus contributing to Cell's Development to 2nd Stage.
